Curriculum

As our students grow up, they will leave classrooms behind.  If we teach our students how to use a library, we are teaching them how to be resourceful--how to find great books to read and how to find answers to their own questions--well after childhood.   Please click on the links below for the District 65 Library Curriculum for each grade level.

Borrowing Policy

Kindergarten students may check-out one book each week to keep in their classrooms.

1st and 2nd grade students may check-out one book each week to bring home.

3rd-5th grade students may check-out two books every two weeks as follows for the 2018-19 school year:

Sept. 10th and 24th, Oct. 8th and 22nd, Nov. 5th and 26th, Dec. 10th, Jan. 7th and 21st,

 Feb. 4th and 18th, Mar. 4th and 18th, April 1st, 15th and 29th, May 6th

Open Check-Out passes are in all 1st-5th grade classrooms and can be used on Tuesdays from 2:30-3:15.  If students need more 1:1 help finding a good book, or were absent/forgot books on their check-out day, this is an additional opportunity for them to have access to the Library.

When books are returned, new books may be checked out.  Books may be renewed.  If a book is lost, families are asked to pay what they can of the replacement cost so that a new book can be purchased for the library.  Students can see Ms. Murray to work off a fine.
